It's a Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood

The Post-Dispatch recently ran an article on one of my favorite people, Fred Rogers and the role his show played in a children's ministry called "Mister Roger's Neighborhood". Click on the link below to read the article.

We lived in Pittsburgh for 3 years in the late 1970's.  We saw him, shared a meal with him at several events (Presbyterian and concerts) and our daughter was able to go to a live show.  What you saw on the show was the man. Although trained as a Presbyterian minister, his show was his congregation and ministry not just one church.  He was always friendly, gracious and treated each person who approached him as a member of his congregation.

To hear his song and see his entrance, Click here if the video above doesn't play.  I kind of miss starting my day with this genuine, warm welcome.  I am happy to see some of my grandchildren watching Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood on their iPads!  Click here for the PBS page.
